Andy Roddick
Andy Roddick is currently the 7th ranked player in the world for men’s tennis. For a long time Roddick has been hyped as one of the top players in the world. Though he has been seen as one of the top players, he has not been the top ranked player in the world for more than 6 years now.
Though Roddick is just 7th in the world in overall ranking, he is 2nd in the prize money standings. This includes over 1.2 million dollars earned in 2010. Roddick has played a lot of matches already this year, amassing a 26-4 record in 2010.
His success in 2010 has been tremendous. Roddick has already reached the finals in 4 separate tournaments and the quarter finals in another tournament. These four finals appearances include tournaments that he won altogether at the ATP Masters Series Sony Ericsson Open and the ATP Brisbane International.
Roddick is a powerful player and has the skills to succeed. Roddick is the world record holder for the fastest serve recorded with a 155 mph effort. Though many have criticized Roddick in the past for not employing a greater variety of shots, Roddick appears to be a more “well-rounded” player today than ever. His backhand shot is improving and he is more of an all-court player than he was early in his career.
If Roddick can continue this success, he will move up in the rankings. He is already one of the more popular players in the sport and he will have a lot of support on his way back to the top if he continues with this great effort.
