Juan Carlos Ferrero

Juan Carlos Ferrero has had mixed results in the beginning of the 2010 year. Juan Carlos Ferrero has managed to amass a seemingly impressive 18-5 record and has won 2 Singles Titles this year. Though those numbers sound very impressive they can be slightly misleading.

In two different tournaments this year Juan Carlos Ferrero has failed to get out of his first match of the tournament. This includes the Australian Open where Juan Carlos Ferrero failed to advance past Ivan Dodig. These sorts of results are not typical for a former number one player in the world. Though his standing as number one player in the world was several years ago, he is still expected to advance past the first round in each and every tournament he plays in.

With exception to those two tournaments where he did not advance Juan Carlos Ferrero has at least made a decent showing in each of his other opportunities. This includes Singles Titles at The Brazil Open and the Copa Telmex. Though he won each of these Singles Titles, he did not have to face a single player in either tournament that is currently ranked higher than him in the ATP World Rankings en route to tournament victories.

It appears that Juan Carlos Ferrero still has the tools and knowledge to beat the people that he is favored over in the world. However, it is unclear whether he still has the ability to compete with many of the top players in the world.

In his one match this year against a player ranked higher than him in the standings Carlos Ferrero dropped the match to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won this match decisively in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
