Marin Cilic
Marin Cilic has enjoyed a great start to this season. He has already won 20 matches while only losing 4. In the process of winning all of these matches he has won two singles titles this year. If he can continue to perform like this we can expect big things from Cilic.
Cilic is only 21 years old and has a relatively poor 114-72 record in his career. Despite mixed success early in his career, it appears that he is now entering his prime. He appears to have the potential to enter into an elite level of tennis players in the world.
Cilic has not only won two titles this year, but he also advanced to the semi finals of the Australian Open. This is the best finish he has ever had at a Grand Slam tournament. He did not lose until facing Andy Murray, who is one of the strongest players in the world.
To put in perspective just how good Cilic has been this year we can look to his record last year. Last year he had a 48-21 record in singles matches. Though it is early in the season Cilic has already won 20 matches. If he were to continue at this pace over the season he would finish with a record of about 60-12 on the season in a similar amount of matches. This would be a remarkable improvement.
Cilic’s biggest challenge will be to prove he can beat those top players in the world that are ahead of him. He appears to be on track to proving this point as he has already beaten 3 of the players ranked ahead of him on the season.
