Caroline Wozniacki
Caroline Wozniacki, the 19 year old out of Denmark, has enjoyed a stellar start to 2010. Wozniacki has started the season with a 17-5 record and has already managed to win a Singles Title. This strong start has helped her to fill the 2nd position in the WTA World Rankings.
Wozniacki has shown the ability to dominate at times this season. In her 22 matches played this year, she has managed to beat her opponent 6-0 at four different times. This sort of dominance can take the life out of an opponent, causing them to lose their confidence during the match.
Wozniacki has also shown the ability to continue fighting while under pressure. Though it is impressive to not allow your opponent to win points at all, it is also impressive to show that you can come through in a close match. She has managed to win 3 tiebreakers already this season. This shows that even when every shot or every point is held under scrutiny she is able to come through under pressure.
Her ability to dominate and play under pressure will serve her well in her quest for the top ranking in the WTA World Rankings. One month ago she reached the number 2 ranking for the first time in her career, and may have the potential to keep rising in the charts.
Even if she is not able to pass Serena Williams right away, at 19 years old she could represent the next generation of women’s tennis. This year she will have the opportunity to prove that she can remain consistent and near the top of the game.
