Flavia Pennetta
Flavia Pennetta has enjoyed a strong start to the 2010 season with a 19-7 record to this point. She has already managed to win a Singles Title and looks to be on track to have another solid year.
Flavia Pennetta has advanced far in several tournaments this year. She has advanced to the championship round of two tournaments, one semifinal, and one more quarterfinal finish. Her two finals finishes include the Singles Title that she won at the WTA Andalucia Tennis Experience.
Flavia Pennetta has demonstrated a great ability to keep her composure in close matches this year. In her matches she has had 5 different times when the set has gone to a tiebreaker. In those sets she has won the tiebreaker point 4 times. This sort of success will be crucial as she plays against the best players in the world in big tournaments.
There are a few questions surrounding the health of Pennetta. Pennetta was forced to retire from one tournament this year win a hip injury. Sometimes hip issues tend to linger around and bother players for long than they expect them to. The hip may feel great one day, but may bother them on another.
Pennetta is the 15th ranked player in the WTA World Rankings currently. She has been solid this year, but has not displayed the strengths typical of the very best players in the world. She is already 28 years old and it would be surprising if she was able to change her game at this point in her career to become one of the elite players in the world.
