Kim Clijsters

Kim Clijsters has come out playing great tennis in 2010. Clijsters is a former number 1 ranked player in the world according to the WTA World Rankings. In 2007, a few years after reaching the top of the game Clijsters decided to retire. This decision was made due to injury. Clijsters proceeded to come back to the game in 2009.

Her comeback in 2009 produced great results, but 2010 has been even better for her. So far in 2010, Clijsters has managed to win 15 matches while only losing three. In the process of producing such a great record, Clijsters has won 2 Singles Titles in 2010.

Clijsters looks to be playing at a level comparable to her glory days as the top player in women’s tennis. In her impressive season she has managed to already beat one of the top players in the league, Venus Williams. She has also beaten Justine Henin twice this year. Though Henin is ranked only 23rd in the world, she has been one of the better players in 2010.

Clijsters is one of the best defensive players in the women’s tennis world. She uses her speed and athleticism to get to nearly every shot. These abilities force opponents to hit more shots, leaving the door open for more errors to be committed. Clijsters also has a powerful stroke that she can hit to the deep parts of the opponents side.

Clijsters appears to be on track to a successful comeback. She has not played a large amount of top ranked players yet this year, but has succeeded in her matches where she has encountered them.
