Na Li
Na Li has had a disappointing start to the 2010 season so far. Li is the 16th ranked player in the world according to the WTA World Rankings, but has not shown the strengths typical of a top 20 player.
Li has only been able to muster 8 wins on the year in comparison to her 7 losses. With the exception of 1 tournament on the year, Li has put forth a very disappointing effort in each event. Li has been eliminated within her first two matches 5 times on the season. These results point towards a decline in her play.
Part of the struggle of Li this year has been her inability to come through in close matches. Out of 8 tiebreak opportunities on the year, Li has managed to win just twice while losing 6 times. It is difficult to be an elite player when your skills don’t show through while the game is on the line.
Li has been prone to unforced errors throughout her career and they have plagued her. To go along with her unforced errors, her inability to hit a large variety of shots makes her predictable. She also has been injury prone throughout her career.
Li has a lot of changes to make if she hopes to return to the 10th ranking that she held earlier in the year. There are a lot of great players that are there, along with other players that are making comebacks that may prevent Li from making progressing forward again in the rankings.
