Shahar Peer

Shahar Peer has been very good in 2010 so far. She has managed to jump 11 spots in the WTA World Rankings in 2010. She is now the 19th ranked player in the world.

Peer has won 18 matches already in 2010. In 2009 she only managed to win 43 matches. This was already an improvement over 2008, where she won just 26. It appears that Peer is improving as time goes on.

One of the most beneficial improvements of 2010 has been the change in her serve. She has added a slice to her serve that seems to be more effective than the kick serve that she used in the past. In other aspects of her game, Peer is not much of an offensive player. Rather than establishing her will in the game, she prefers to take what the opponent gives her. She has forehand that works well against top spin players and a backhand that is amongst the game’s best.

Shahar Peer has an opportunity to continue to move up in the rankings. With a good finish in the upcoming Grand Slam event, Peer can improve her ranking. There are a few players ahead of Peer that have been struggling on the season and with her great play, she has the opportunity to pass them up.

Peer has been ranked high before and hopes to return to the point where she was the 15th ranked player in the world. With the changes she has made she has the talent to get there and I believe that she will.
