Yanina Wickmayer

Yanina Wickmayer has started off 2010 with solid performances. This has allowed her to move up to the 13th spot in the WTA World Rankings. The 13th position is the highest ranking that she has achieved up to this point in her career.

Wickmayer has won 18 matches this year while only losing 5. Last season Wickmayer began to emerge and it appears that she has only continued to improve her game as she has played so well in 2010.

Wickmayer has managed to win one Singles Title this year. Her title came at the WTA ASB Classic. In this event Wickmayer was amazing. Her opponents failed to win a single set against her during the entire tournament.

Wickmayer stands at 6 feet tall. This great height gives her an advantage on her serve. She also has the length needed to reach for balls that would otherwise be out of reach.

Despite her great success this year, Wickmayer still has not proven the ability to beat the top players in the game. She has failed to beat a single player that is currently ranked higher than her in the WTA World Rankings.

Wickmayer has demonstrated a lot of mental toughness this year. There were a lot of questions surrounding her after she was banned from the sport of tennis for a year. The ban was lifted less than two months after it was put into effect. After such controversy, it is sometimes difficult for players to come out and perform. Wickmayer however has been playing some of the best tennis of her career in the time that has followed these events.
